MacBook Air user notes on Wireless connection dropouts (w/tip)
(combination of several mails in the last 24hrs from a Macbook Air owner)

" 10.5.2 + AIR + WIRELESS GO POOF
Ok so my macbook air is great. but since i use wireless networking for remote disk, its annoying that suddenly poof disconnected device, connection drops, 5 seconds later its back. Seems that I'm having this problem as well . 10.5.2 is great BUT this wireless problems are annoying...
(I asked for more details on system and wireless network)
System is Macbook Air 1.6GHz base unit, all updates applied to date, Router is buffalo WHRG125 running in G ONLY MODE (channel 10)
I only use the macbook air at home so only notice it when I see device disconnected. I have a ximeta network disk attached drive connect 10baseT to the router. 300gb disk. It drops 3-5 times in one day. Recovers within 30 seconds.
sometimes when I open my air from sleep it won't connect to wireless automatically. (try toggling airport off then back on from menu bar. I used to have to do that several times a week with my PB G4, but rarely have that problem with the AL iMac and Airport Ext. 802.11n base (running 5GHz wide channel mode currently)-Mike)

(he later wrote)
Seems the soution is to turn off IPV6 (generally set to automatic). So far has not a dropped connection today at all... I at least would get one in a day. Will let you know how it goes after a few days.
-K."

More notes on 17in (Penyrn) MacBook Pro Take-Apart/500GB Drive Install
I've updated yesterday's post on a 500GB Hitachi drive in 17in MacBook Pro with his later comments on the upgrade, saying his new Penryn MacBook Pro was easier to take apart for the drive upgrade than his previous 15in (Merom) Macbook Pro.

Penumbra: Black Plague (game/demo) for Mac
(from their email press release today - I had linked to demo download mirrors in the other news listing below)

"Today we can happily announce the release of Penumbra: Black Plague for Mac & Linux. The demo versions are already uploaded to file mirrors and can be found at http://www.penumbrablackplague.com/site/demo.php

The full release will come during the next week, allowing Mac & Linux users to experience the full game and get closure to the story begun in Penumbra: Overture. At the same time an updated version of Penumbra: Overture will be released, adding optimisations and fixes to Overture from Black Plague. The demo for Penumbra: Overture is already updated and available at http://www.penumbra-overture.com/demo.php

The upcoming expansion Penumbra: Requiem is also heading for Mac & Linux, more details to be released as the game nears completion during the summer of 2008.

About Penumbra: Black Plague & Overture
Penumbra is a first person adventure game which focuses on story, immersion and puzzles. Instead of using violence to progress the player has to use his/her wits to guide Philip on his quest to unravel the past.
Played from a first person viewpoint, Penumbra is very different from other adventure games. Not only is it powered by a 3D engine utilising cutting edge technology, it also has an advanced physics system which allow for a never before seen environment interaction. The player can open drawers, pull levers, pick up objects and more using natural mouse movements creating a highly interactive and dynamic game world.
Penumbra will keep players on the edge as they have to explore scary and atmospheric environments never knowing what is behind the next corner. The world is detailed, graphical as well as a story wise making the player feel part of the world as secrets are uncovered. Find out more at: www.Penumbra-Overture.com & www.PenumbraBlackPlague.com"
