Follow-up from PowerMac G5 owner w/iMic noise in Leopard
More info/update from the reader that commented on this in yesterday's news (used OK in Tiger but has noise in recordings under Leopard - some others noted no problems although one reply also had noise issues)

" I am just sending an update on the iMic problem I have been having. I did a force rebinding from the terminal using the "sudo update_prebinding -force -root /" (something I had mentioned doing yesterday-Mike) It seemed to clear a problem when recording audio in the latest version of Soundtrack Pro with thee iMic as the input source.
I then tried recording in quicktime and Toast's CD Spin Doctor and I still got static mixed with the audio using the iMic as the input source.

I finally gave up and hooked the audio to the back of the G5's audio mini jack "in port". Lo and behold Toast's CD Spin Doctor and Quicktime did not capture any static.

I am pretty sure that there is some kind of conflict when using the iMic and 10.5.1 as opposed to using 10.4.11. (Again replies to that post yesterday noted some are not seeing this problem - but then what OS X issue is ever 100% common)
Unfortunately, the quality of the built in audio card on the G5 seems gutless compared to the quality I get from the iMic under 10.4.

(for the record I asked for more info on his system, the iMic and system audio settings)
I am using the original grey iMic (rev 1) and the newer rev 2 iMic ( - both exhibit the same problems. (there was a firmware update for the -first- model iMic which was mentioned here earlier this year (no longer hosted by Griffin so I asked readers for a copy after a reader request for it.-Mike) There are no firmware updates for this product. I was told by tech support a long time ago that there were no major differences between rev 1 and 2.

I checked my audio settings as well and it all seems to be set up correctly. (I had also asked he check audio/midi utility settings) Just in case I tried also clean installs of the OS with my recording software and the imic as the only hardware attached to the system.

I tried the Imic on my new MacBook Pro and AL iMac (with 10.5.1 on both) and I could not replicate the problem. It seems to be related to the G5 only. Unfortunately the G5 is the only system I have with plenty of memory (8 Gigs.) to do my editing work.
Best regards, Francisco V. "

Request for Feedback from OS X Leopard users with PCI Ethernet Cards
A reader using one of the (many) cards reported on with OS X Tiger (and earlier) on the OS X PCI Ethernet Card Compatibility Reports page here asked I post a request for feedback from users of 3rd party Ethernet cards that have upgraded to OS X Leopard. (Some cards had native support, others used addon drivers).
If you're using a PCI NIC card and upgraded to OS X Leopard, let me know the details (Card brand/model, if natively supported or drivers used, Mac model and if you've seen any pros or cons). Thanks.
