(from sponsor PR mail)

" Trans international announces worldwide availability of Serial-ATA mobile drives for the new Apple MacBook.
Trans SATA mobile (2.5") hard disk drives deliver a winning combination of characteristics. With the industry's lowest idle power and enhancements to the mechanical and electrical design, these 5400 and 7200 rpm drives (100GB/120GB) with outstanding shock characteristics, extremely efficient power consumption, whisper quiet acoustics, and a range of speeds and capacities are ideal choice for Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro. Final Cut Express 3.5 specs updated to list Onboard Intel GMA950 Graphics Macs
Richard sent a note that Apple has revised the Final Cut Express 3.5 specs to list onboard Intel GMA (950) graphics Macs (i.e. MacBook and Mac Mini) as compatible. The revised the graphics requirements now say:

" An AGP or PCI Express graphics card compatible with Quartz Extreme, or Intel GMA integrated graphics processor in MacBook or Mac mini "

Glad they did that as despite the fact that Final Cut Pro 5.1 ran on MacBooks and Mac Minis (although Apple notes it's officially unsupported on them), some readers were leery of buying FCE until there was some 'official' word on MacBook/Mini compatibility.

MagSafe Connector melted
" Mike, MagSafe adapter melted. (recent post). (There was an another report like this earlier this year - also from a non-US user).
From A post on Apple Discussions:
"I was backing up some files unattendedly. As I came back my MagSafe adapter was melted down and the MacBookPro was extraordinary hot. I burned my fingers while moving it.
Have a look at
Unfortunately AppleCare Germany seems to treat that as a standard case or they have absolutely no authority on their own. (they have to confer with Apple engineering lab every time I am talking to them) They promised to send a new MagSafe Adapter and they offered to have a look at the MacBookPro itself to "fix" the issue. But apparently they have no clue what the cause is.
No replacement, no apology.
I am more than disappointed."
