= Site Guide for Answers to your Questions =

I'm getting more than 6 hours of e-mail a day about problems people are having with their computers, accelerators, SCSI or Video Boards, among others. To help answer some of these questions while still allowing me time to make this site the best it can be, I'd like to ask you to please follow these steps...

  1. Check out the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions). There are over a dozen topics (CPU upgrades, SCSI, IDE, Games, USB and more) there with a total of over 800 Answers by Topic - it's fast and easy to use!. Much of the mail asks the same questions which are already answered at the site in more detail that I can repeat in email over and over every day. There is also an Mac Audio FAQ by Thad Brown.

  2. Systems Questions? Check the Systems page for reviews, guides and related articles (G4 systems to G3s, Older Macs, PowerBooks, iMacs, etc.), the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). The CPU Upgrade Owners Ratings database with of feedback/ratings (over 5000 entries and more added daily) on all the different G3/G4 CPU cards, searchable by Card brand and Mac model. You can see just how the card you're interested in performed in a Mac model like yours!

  3. CPU Card Upgrade Questions? Check the CPU Cards page for tons of reviews and related articles, the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for compatibility notes and most importantly the CPU Upgrade Owners Ratings with of feedback/ratings (over 5000 entries and more added daily) on all the different G3/G4 CPU cards, searchable by Card brand and Mac model. You can see just how the card you're interested in performed in a Mac model like yours!

  4. SCSI/IDE/Firewire/Controller/Drive Questions?: Did you check all the articles on the SCSI, IDE/ATA and Firewire articles pages? And there are a lot of questions answered in the Frequently Asked Questions. We also have a searchable database of Mac Drive Compatibility reports (over 3000 entries and more added daily on CDROM/CD recorders, DVD drives, Hardrives, Tape drives, etc.).

  5. Apple Beige/Blue and White G3 Info: Tons of info on Apple's G3 models are at the G3-ZONE site and Systems page, G3 Macs section. B&W G3 (aka Yosemite) info starts here. The G3-ZONE has everything from Troubleshooting, ZIF CPU, RAM, Vram and disk upgrades, G3 specific news.

  6. Graphics Cards Questions?: Did you check the articles/reviews listed on the Graphics Cards page? Also check the Frequently Asked Questions video card section (3dfx and non-3dfx topic areas there) and my www.mac3dfx.com site. More 3Dfx info is also at the 3Dfx Forum which has lively Q&A from Mac 3Dfx card owners on software and hardware. To find out how video cards perform in games check not only my video card reviews but also the new Mac Game Framerate searchable (by game title, video card, cpu speed, mac model..) database.

  7. Search Accelerate Your Mac for the info you are looking for (with 4,800 pages and growing - there will often be many returns on searches however - so first check the FAQ and Topics pages linked under the Main News Page logo and at the bottom of this page.
It's quite likely that we've talked about your question once or twice on this site, so please choose a couple of keywords that fit what you are looking for, type them in (use quotes for things like 'Game Rocket' - otherwise you'll get hits on every instance of 'game' and 'rocket'), and press "SEARCH!"

Please take the time to check the site contents page that lists all my reviews, tips and tutorials by topic. Many questions are already answered there. To allow me the time to make this site the best it can be, please do your part and read the information that I've already published.

  8. Ask the MIM: If you have a tech support question (News and other items for posting should still be sent to me) please try the new Men in Mac tech support page. It's in beta form and will be improved but I urge readers to use it as a means of getting some expert help on a huge variety of topics covering most every Mac ever made, upgrades, software and more. A Bio page is also posted that has info on the volunteers that have offered to help provide reader support. My sincere thanks go out to each of them. (Please try the above steps first.)
