For users of Nvidia's web drivers, OS X updates usually means another driver update needed for the later OS X version/build number unless Nvidia's changed that. You can use Nvidia's prefs to switch to OS X default driver before updating. If don't do that and see a hang at boot after updating, IIRC resetting the nvram will revert to using the default OS X graphics driver. (Check for updates via Nvidia's prefs since they usually appear there sooner than on their website download pages.)
